There is a point to be made here, in that despite not being memorable as one of our best poker hands, winning a good amount of these small pots will contribute to your profit or defecit over the long run. You cannot win them all of course, but it is important to remain focussed and try to play your best even when you are playing a small pot.

The best poker hands are usually remembered as those in which you won a lot of chips, or made a great fold. Any hand where you make a careful, logical decision, that turns out to be correct, counts as one of your better hands. But of course there are usually special circumstances attached to those hands considered the best and most memorable of poker hands.

When looking at the best poker hands from a hand ranking perspective, you will find that most poker games follow the same rules with hand strengths. There are however, some differences in games such as Omaha hi/lo, where half the pot is won by a qualifying low hand. These low hands must consist of five unpaired cards of 8 or lower, with Aces low, making (A,2,3,4,5) the nut low. Some poker games which involve three card poker hands being made, and will count three of a kind as the best hand, followed by a straight flush, then a straight, then a regular flush. Other then these exceptions though, standard hand rankings apply in most forms of poker.
